Catalyst Training

intense physicality + kinesthetic intelligence

Catalyst uses a unique fusion of strength training, cardio, yoga, and free movement exercises to tap into your body’s natural patterns. The result is that you’ll get your heart pumping and your muscles burning, while you build body awareness and learn to move freely. Catalyst is one of the first full body, challenging workouts to incorporate effective body/mind training and awareness techniques into the class.

Is it easy? No. But that’s why you’re going to see changes in your body and mind and feel better each class. Our bodies need positive stressors in order to grow. Catalyst classes will meet you where you are, whether you’re coming to your first fitness class or training for a marathon. This cutting edge fitness technique gets you out of the chair, out of the gym, out of your habits, and into your body. Come just as you are. Leave feeling strong, energized and alive!

This is the future of fitness. This is how we build healthy bodies, one day at a time. This is how we move towards a healthier, happier world.

Want to learn more? Here are the major components of the class, and the reasoning behind them...

WHY STRENGTH TRAINING?

Strength training helps your whole body stay active and healthy. It puts helpful stress on your bones, and can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

It’s a little know fact, but building muscle is actually the fast path to losing weight/fat. Having more muscle tone increases your metabolic rate, helping you burn more calories all day long. So if this is one of your goals, strength training is one of the best things you can do.

Why Cardio?

A part of maintaining a healthy body is keeping your heart healthy. Catalyst uses short intervals of high intensity cardio bursts to get your heart pumping. Not only will this help to keep your heart healthy, but it increases your circulation, your metabolism, and your mood. Many Catalyst cardio exercises will also help you sweat and detoxify while you work fast twitch muscles fibers.

Why Yoga?

Yoga Asana practice can help create wellness in your whole body. Yoga helps increase flexibility, build strength, and develop body awareness. Perhaps even more important, yoga offers a way for us to work with our minds. This can decrease the amount of suffering we experience, help us build a healthier relationship to ourselves and others, and aid in our ability to live in the present moment. Catalyst Training draws on many classic Yoga poses to help create a healthy body and mind.

Why Free Movement?

Free movement has become increasingly popular in the forms of Ecstatic Dance and Contemplative Movement in the past few years. It is perhaps the most basic type of movement, exercise, and community building. Get people together, put on some music, and create a safe environment where everyone can move exactly how they feel like moving -- this is potentially the healthiest thing you could do for your body, mind, and spirit! Learning to listen to your body and move how your body wants to move can be incredibly healing. It’s also one of the fastest ways to build grace, kinesthetic intelligence, and coordination.
